Bruce Feiler has noted a story regarding The Vanity Fair 100 list and the revelation by the editor of the Chicago Jewish News that at least 51% of the list is Jewish. I predict that the comments left on Feiler's blog will be more interesting than the blog itself.
I think this story begs a couple of questions:
1) Are Jews misrepresented on this list because this particular list is skewed in their favor, or is this a wider social phenomenon that bears consideration.
2) If the conclusion drawn from #1 is that this is a legit phenomenon, then why are Jews so disproportionately represented among the roll of the power elite.
3) Once we understand the answer to #2 we must then ask how we people from "the nations" are supposed to behave in our relationship to the Jewish people.
As these questions bear some serious thought and can't be answered in their entirety in one post, I will break them up into at least tree posts.
